How does in-person Reiki work?
Reiki activates the body’s own self-healing process to restore physical and emotional well-being. The Reiki practitioner channels Reiki through the palm of their hands. The Reiki practitioner places their hands either gently on your body or six inches above your body on specific points, similar to acupuncture. The practitioner designs the Reiki session based on your individual intentions. There are over 20 different areas on the body that can receive treatment. The practitioner moves to another area of your body once the energy transference has taken place.
How does Distance Healing work?
The Reiki practitioner and client will schedule a specific time for treatment where the client can comfortably lie down in an area with little to no disruption. The client will send the practitioner a photo and a few details about themselves including their intention for the session. At the time of treatment, the Reiki practitioner and client will connect via zoom, Skype or phone to begin the session. The client should be lying down comfortably in an area that will offer minimal disruption. As the Reiki practitioner moves through the treatment, there will be check-ins to ensure the client is comfortable. Clients may notice warmth, tingling sensations, and a sense of relaxation as the treatment is being given.
What is the history of Reiki?
Reiki is reported to have been in use for thousands of years. Reiki was officially developed in 1922 by Buddhist Mikao Usui in Japan.
